Racism and Discrimination
In today’s world, contemporary forms of racism and racial discrimination are complex and disturbing. In Europe, these issues increasingly lie at the heart of political and social concerns. In the immediate future, European Governments will face several challenges, two of which are very significant: enforcing action against racism and racial discrimination in an environment increasingly affected by the fight against terrorism; and addressing the issue of integration.
Inclusion – Include within the local society those who are victims of racism and discrimination, ensuring the respect of their basic human rights and educating about differences and diversity
Stereotypes – Any opinion that is rigidly preconstituted and generalized, that is, not acquired on the basis of direct experience. Learn to recognize stereotypes and deconstruct them.
Civic Engagement – Includes communities working together or individuals working alone in both political and non-political actions to protect public values or make a change in a community
Promotion and Protection of Diversity – Presuppose the recognition of, equal dignity of, and respect for all cultures, including the cultures of persons belonging to minorities and indigenous peoples.
