Coventry University

Partner

Coventry University is a dynamic, global, enterprising University. We work in partnership with external organisations through our research and engage our students as partners in a community of learning. The roots of Coventry University can be traced as far back as 1843 when it was known as the Coventry College of Design. The University has evolved significantly, particularly in the last 15 years. The University now teaches 25,000 students and employs over 3000 people, including approximately 1000 full time academic members of staff.

Coventry University has a long tradition of undertaking training, research and consultancy to meet the needs of local, national and international clients in the public and private sector. Founded as an industrial university it originally focused on the needs of major multinational manufacturing companies who were based in the local area and the University has now worked with a diverse range of public and private sector clients on numerous projects.

Named the UK’s Modern University of the Year by Times and Sunday Times (2014, 2015 and 2016), Coventry University has a reputation for excellent teaching and research, business engagement, innovation and entrepreneurship. It is ranked as the No.1 UK University in 2016 for student satisfaction (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016) and No.1 in UK for Overseas Student Experiences. The University was rated 2nd for its Teaching Excellence in 2017 and is ranked 13th in the Guardian University guide 2019 out of 121 UK Institutions ranked.

The participation will be via Coventry’s Disruptive Media Learning Lab (DMLL) that is capitalising on research and development excellence in innovative pedagogies and technology-enhanced learning across the university, including excellence in game-based learning R&D of the Serious Games Institute (SGI). DMLL is currently coordinating the H2020 Beaconing Project (ICT-20-2015) and partnering on H2020 C4Rs Project (ICT-10-2015) and three Erasmus+ projects (MUSE, OpenMED, EduHack and Jovital). Two of the key strands (research, development and innovation) at the DMLL are adaptive and pervasive learning and gamification for innovative teaching and learning.
